Anatache “Ana” Perez was born in Juncos, Puerto Rico to Ruben Perez and Antonia Sanchez on October 21, 1946. Ana grew up in Spanish Harlem. She had three siblings: Joey, Ruben, and Lourdes (who predeceased her). Ana had three amazing daughters whom she was very proud of: Doreen, Tracy, and Shareen. As a single mom working hard to support her family, she advanced her education at Hostos Community College where she earned an Associate's Degree. She later attended Lehman College. Ana had a long career as a Caseworker for the New York City Human Resources Administration.
Ana possessed a gift for the arts, writing poetry, demonstrating a talent for drawing as well as a knack for interior decorating. Ana loved sunny days and relished basking in the warmth of the sun.
Ana is survived by her loving daughters: Doreen, Tracy (Glenvil) and Shareen, as well as her grandchildren: Brandon (Adalgisa), Charleen, Tiffany, Karim, Malik, and Lil’ Mark and her great-grandchildren: Brandon, Lyric, Harley, and Nyla.
The family wishes to thank her outstanding, trusted Health Aide and family friend, Ysabel, who was genuinely kind, loving and caring to our mom. Ana’s daughters also wish to acknowledge and express a deep appreciation for Claude (Will) Herman Williams. Will was Ana’s significant other for a period in her early life and had been a presence in the lives of her daughters prior to that time through today. Ana was known for her love of family and dear friends, as well as her wonderful sense of humor. She was deeply loved by family and close friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
