Remembering Alfred
Alfred Bush, Jr. was born on November 23, 1939 in Columbia, North Carolina to the late Alfred Bush, Sr and Macie White. He received his wings on Monday, August 8, 2022. Alfred graduated from Tyrrel High School in Columbia, NC in 1958. He later moved to New York City and gained employment as a Printer with a prestigious printing company until it went out of business in the 1990’s. He later worked at TYME Direct Mail on Hudson Street from which he retired. Alfred was a Community Activist and worked diligently with the Independent Party in Harlem, NY. He enjoyed performing community service. He volunteered for the community pantry for many years. He loved old school music, R&B and Gospel. He was affectionately called “Peter Rabbit” by his family in North Carolina. He leaves to cherish his memory: devoted daughters, Catherine Emanuel-Myers (Jerome) and Colleen Diane Emanuel (Glenn); granddaughters, Naheama and Shirleen; grandson, Shawn; great-grandchildren, Sincere, Jayda and Jayden (whom affectionately called him “Grandpapi); uncle, Charles White; nieces, Bernestine McCloud and Belinda Nolen; nephew, Bernard Haselrig, Jr.; five cousins; and his long-time and dearest friend, Marianne Harper-Stephens.
