Bruce Ali, born Bruce Calvin Jones on November 26, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, transitioned
peacefully after a life filled with strength, loyalty, and love.
In 1978, while living in West Palm Beach, Florida, he changed his name to Bruce Ali as a reflection of
his personal growth and cultural pride.
Affectionately known as “Bull Moose,” a nickname given by his cousins because of his strength.
Bruce spent part of his childhood in Bayboro, North Carolina, before returning to Harlem, New York,
where he lived most of his life at 442 West 164th Street—a home that held nearly a century of family
history across two generations.
Bruce proudly served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1974. After his military service, he
moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where he worked for the West Palm Beach Board of Education
as a landscaper and later retired with a pension.
In 1996, he returned to New York to be near family and support his mother during her illness.
Bruce was a jokester with a great sense of humor, a fighter with strong hands, and a man who always
found his way back home.
His presence, laughter, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Though his physical body is no longer with us, his spirit is still alive — in our memories, in our
laughter, in our stories, and in the love we continue to share.
He lives on every time we say his name, every time we remember his smile, and every time we carry
forward the lessons he taught us.
Bruce Ali was more than our brother — he was our friend, our protector, and a reminder of strength.
Rest in power, our brother. Your journey continues. You are loved. You are remembered. You are
forever with us. He will be truly loved and deeply missed by all who knew him.
May he rest in peace.
