Ramon Antonio Romain aka “PUNJAB” was born in the Bronx, New York at Jacobi Hospital to the parents of Vernando and Almena Romain on September 4, 1952. He was the third of four siblings. He had two brothers, Vernando Chappie Romain Jr. and Milton Romain (deceased), and one sister, Helena Gomez (deceased). Ramon passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 7:36pm at his home. Ramon attended Manhattan Vocational Tech High School where he majored in music and extended his knowledge of playing the saxophone and flute. He played with many bands throughout the years but the main one’s were the Billy Bongo African High Life Band, a Salsa Band, and eventually he developed his own band Punjab & Company. Ramon worked many years at Samaritan Village as a Drug Counselor. He retired from there in 2014 and then started working part-time at Solar Program as a Salesman. Ramon Antonio Romain leaves to cherish his memory: three children, Kenya Romain-Munroe, Emoni Romain-Gibson and Ramon Antonio Romain, ll; brother, Vernando Chappie Romain, Jr.; two sons-in-law, Don and Kevin; one sister-in-law, Rosemary; seven grandchildren, Sean, Brianna, Waquetta, Ramon III, Deja, Deniah, and Charsity; four great-grandchildren, Aniyah, Sean Jr., Mekhi, and Joelle; three nieces, Nicole, Summer, Verona; one nephew, Milton Jr.; his darling companion, Carol and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
