Rufus Carlton Smith II

Rufus Carlton Smith II, 39, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on December 31, 2022.

Born on August 13, 1983, he was the only son of Rufus and Bonnie Smith.

He is predeceased by his father, Rufus Smith I; uncle, Frank Thompson Jr.; and cousin, Melvin Stanley Jr.

A 2005 Hamden High School graduate, Rufus worked at New Haven Public Schools, and the Board of Education in food service & maintenance. Security at Eco Urban Pioneers LLC. Co-owner of Sekou & Son LLC towing company alongside his father. A true definition of an entrepreneur.

Rufus is survived by sisters Natasha Smith, Althea Star, Myra Smith, and Neia Smith; his children Davonna Martin, Quion Cherry-Smith, and Kyle Simmons; and his emotional support, Shih-poos Byrdy and Bishup.

He leaves an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
