Venetta Marie (Wright) Morgan, age 86, passed peacefully from this life the morning of January
10th, 2024, after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving
family and caregivers during the last days of her life.
She was born on January 23, 1937, in the parish of St. Elizabeth, Cornwall, Jamaica, West Indies.
to the proud parents of Vera Wright and Winston Wright who preceded her in death. Also
preceding her in death, her brother Clifton and son Michael.
In 1965 Venetta immigrated to Delaware state, USA with the hope of a better life for her family.
She later moved to NYC and settled on the upper west side in Manhattan. In 1968, she married
John Morgan in Jamaica. She later sponsored her husband and four children to the USA so that
they too could pursue the same opportunity for a better life.
On May 5, 1970, she enrolled in the Metropolitan School of Infant and Geriatric Care. She
studied there and earned a certificate in Geriatric nursing. She worked 24-hour shifts in that
field until 1982 when she decided to work as a consultant so she could spend time with family.
On February 21, 1997, Venetta became a proud citizen of the United States of America. She
knew the significance of such an accomplishment and encouraged all her children who were
non-citizens to become citizens. She also enjoyed the benefits of being a US Citizen. She was
super proud to vote for the 44 th president of the USA.
Venetta Morgan is survived by her estranged husband John, her brother Windward; four of her
five children, Hyacinth, Frederick, Marrolin and spouse Gerard, Brent and spouse Vanessa.
She has eight grandchildren: Melissa, Jamar, Briana, Jennel, Gerrolin, Katherine, Kalba and
Anrie. She has a large family of twelve great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins who
love and adored her.
Our beloved mommy, we love you and we miss you. We will never forget your smile, the sound
of your voice, and your kind heart. You will always be in our hearts. Peace be with you and God
